Purpose:
In this three-day Gyrotonic update course, instructors learn the definition, incidence, and physiology of bone loss and how to prevent osteoporotic fractures and falls. Participants will learn how to understand a bone density scan, how to recognize people who are at risk of developing osteoporosis, and some basic information about nutrition and medications. The course will also cover modifications of exercise, specifically Gyrotonic® Level I exercises, for clients with Osteoporosis as well as exercises specifically for bone reformation and prevention of osteoporotic fractures.
On the last day of the course, you will experience 3 progressions of the material covered: one for a client with severe osteoporosis, one for a client with osteoporosis, and one for a client with osteopenia. The material is excellent for any therapeutic population including someone with a neurologic condition, poor balance, poor posture, or difficulty walking.
